PLATFORM POTENTIAL

A platform technology
adoptable to multiple species.

Oceanloop RAS responds to market demand, harvest size, stocking interval and species biology. The platform was developed across marine fish and shrimp — sea bass, sea bream, yellowtail kingfish, Giant Grouper and selected flatfish trials. Future species are selected for market leadership, farming performance, welfare, supply security and product quality.

Proven in Oceanloop Kiel

  • Giant Grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus)

The Giant Grouper is Oceanloop's flagship species and has demonstrated outstanding performance under commercial RAS conditions. Its rapid growth, excellent feed conversion and high stocking densities make it one of the most attractive premium marine species for land-based aquaculture. Combined with its exceptional meat quality, it represents the benchmark for the Oceanloop platform.

  • Whiteleg Shrimp (Penaeus vannamei)

Whiteleg Shrimp remains the world's most widely farmed seafood species and has proven highly adaptable to recirculating aquaculture systems. Its short production cycles, strong global demand and broad culinary versatility make it an ideal species for intensive, land-based production.

Proven in Oceanloop Technology

  • Gilthead Seabream (Sparus aurata)

Gilthead Seabream is one of the most established marine aquaculture species in Europe and has been successfully cultivated in Oceanloop technology. Its robust biology, consistent market demand and reliable production performance make it an excellent species for commercial RAS farming.

  • European Seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

European Seabass is a premium Mediterranean species with strong consumer acceptance across Europe. Oceanloop technology provides the stable water quality and environmental control required to produce high-quality fish while reducing seasonal and climatic risks.

  • Yellowtail Kingfish (Seriola lalandi)

Yellowtail Kingfish is a fast-growing, high-value species that performs exceptionally well in recirculating aquaculture systems. Its premium positioning in the sashimi and fine dining market, combined with rapid growth rates, makes it one of the most promising candidates for industrial RAS production.

Proven in R&D

  • Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)

Olive Flounder represents an important milestone in Oceanloop's research activities. The successful cultivation of this bottom-dwelling species demonstrates the flexibility of the technology platform and its ability to support species with highly specialized biological requirements.

Next Promising Species

  • King Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha)

King Salmon is regarded as the most prestigious Pacific salmon species, valued for its rich flavour and exceptional meat quality. Its premium market positioning and strong consumer demand make it an attractive future candidate for land-based production using Oceanloop technology.

  • Speckled Blue Grouper (Epinephelus cyanopodus)

The Speckled Blue Grouper combines the desirable characteristics of premium grouper species with particularly high growth potential. Its excellent fillet yield, firm yet delicate texture and suitability for intensive farming make it a compelling addition to Oceanloop's grouper portfolio.

  • Coral Trout (Plectropomus leopardus)

Coral Trout is among the highest-value reef fish traded in Asian seafood markets and is particularly sought after by premium restaurants. Its exceptional market price and growing demand create an attractive opportunity for sustainable land-based cultivation.

  • Red Snapper (Lutjanus malabaricus)

Red Snapper is one of the world's most recognised premium food fish with strong demand across retail, foodservice and international seafood markets. Oceanloop technology offers the opportunity to produce this valuable species independently of declining wild fisheries.

  • Coho Salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch)

Coho Salmon is a well-established commercial salmon species known for its balanced flavour, efficient growth and broad consumer acceptance. Its production characteristics make it a promising candidate for diversified salmon farming in recirculating systems.

  • Black Tiger Shrimp (Penaeus monodon)

Black Tiger Shrimp is one of the largest and most valuable shrimp species traded worldwide. Its premium positioning, impressive size and strong international demand make it an attractive future species for high-value RAS production.
